Dubious electricians will be arrested – Police

The Ghana Police Service has advanced plans to arrest and prosecute electricians who engage in dubious activities while discharging their duties.

The Head of Legal and Prosecution Unit at the Central Regional Police Command, DSP Hilarius Avornyo, reiterated that the police will not hesitate to arrest electricians who engage in fictitious trade.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of Ghana Electrical Contractors Association (GECA) and Energy Commission Certified Electrical Wiring Professionals (CEWP’s) at Cape Coast Town Hall on Thursday, August 31 2017, DSP Avornyo noted that certified electricians who fraudulently breach the trust of customers will be dealt with accordingly.

“When a customer gives money to an electrician and he uses the money for another work, it’s a fictitious trade. The police will not hesitate to arrest anyone who engages in criminal activities and bring the person before a court of competent jurisdiction for adjudication,” he told Class News’ regional correspondent, Maxwell Attah, in an interview.

DSP Avornyo, Who believes security is a shared responsibility, advised GECA to diligently follow the precautions of CEWP and the Criminal Code of Ghana.
