DRUGS: Ghanaian woman busted in Malta

.. as Police raids net 650g of heroin

Malta — A 38-year-old woman from Ghana, who has an Italian passport, was arrested after being found in possession of six capsules containing heroin.

The police suspect that the heroin was brought to Malta from Turkey in the last few days. The heroin has an estimated street value of around Lm200,000.

Overall, the police seized 650 grams of heroin yesterday after raiding a Bugibba flat and a Paceville hotel.

After several days of surveillance, the drug squad swooped on the Bugibba flat and discovered 45 capsules containing 600 grams of heroin. A 23-year-old Maltese woman and a 25-year-old Libyan man were arrested.

After conducting preliminary investigations, officers also raided a room in Hotel Valentino in Paceville.

It is not yet known if the two cases are linked. Inspector Neil Harrison is leading the police investigations.
