Drugs, corruption “pushing Ghana down”- Moderator

Right Reverend Dr. Edem Tettey, Moderator of the Global Evangelical Church (GEC) on Sunday observed that drug trade, corruption and other transgressions were “pushing Ghana down.”

He said “sin brings a nation down and righteousness exalts it,” and called on society to uphold discipline and teach coming generations to abhor wrong doing.

Rt. Rev. Tettey gave the advice in a sermon to climax this year’s Convention of the Church at its Convention and Retreat Grounds at Wumenu, near Kpetoe on the theme, “Knowing God the Holy Spirit.”

He said though Ghana is blessed, the nation is grappling with numerous challenges because of its transgressions, most of which go unpunished.

He spoke against the politicization of wrong doings in the country, and said it was important that political actors and leaders who engaged in criminal activities resigned their positions and punished.

Rt. Rev. Tettey said that was the only way to redeem the image of the country, and re-position it as the ‘star’ of Africa.

He specifically asked Christian parents to discipline their children, and ensure that they grew up in the fear of the Lord, in order to become responsible citizens.

The congregation prayed for the leaders in the country, and for peace and rapid socio-economic development.

A 250,000.00 Ghana cedis pastor’s residence was dedicated to the glory of God.
