Accra, April 29, GNA- Two suspected narcotic drug couriers were last night arrested by security agents at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) for attempting to smuggle about 2,048 grams of cocaine to the United States.
The drugs, worth about 100 thousand US dollars, were partly concealed in the soles of their shoes as well as false dippers. The suspects, Philip Tetteh, 21-year-old Ghanaian Mechanic and Webester Tubman, 20-year-old Liberian, had been on holidays in the country.
According to the security agents at the airport, Tetteh and Tubman carried about 1,407 grams and 641 grams of cocaine respectively and were arrested at the last checkpoint.
During interrogation, the two suspects allegedly said one Kofi Nti a building material dealer at McCarthy Hill gave them the drug to be sent to an address in the US.
The security agents said Kofi Nti was later traced and arrested, who confessed having given the drugs to the two suspects. According to Kofi Nti he was in the drug business but had stopped. The security agents said investigation is still continuing after which the three would be arraigned before court
