Driver’s mate jailed three years for stealing bicycle

Asamankese, April 24, GNA – The Asamankese Circuit Court on Thursday sentenced Kwaku Gyasi, a 21- year-old driver’s mate, to three years in prison for stealing a bicycle valued at 50 Ghana cedis.

Police Chief Inspector Joseph Idan told the court that the complainant parked his bicycle in his house on April 12 and went to sleep. But when he woke up the following morning the bicycle was nowhere to be found. He conducted his own investigations and someone told him he had seen the bicycle with a boy at Abaase area of Asamankese. He went to Abaase with others and met the boy who mentioned Gyasi as the owner of the bicycle. The boy led the police to arrest Gyasi.
