Driver’s mate jailed for stealing

Kumasi March 4 GNA- The Kumasi Circuit Court has sentenced a 30-year old driver’s mate, Kwaku Asamoah to two years imprisonment in hard labour, for stealing two million cedis from his benefactor. He pleaded guilty to unlawful entry and stealing.

Police Chief Inspector Regina Kesewaah, told the Court presided over by Mr Ernest Yao Obimpeh that the accused approached the complainant, Abdulai Salifu, last January, to offer him a place to sleep since he has been evicted from his room.

She said ungrateful Asamoah took away a key to the room and stole the money when the complainant was away and went into hiding. Chief Inspector Kesewaah said the accused was later arrested and he confessed the crime.
