Drivers commended for not recording fatal accidents

Kumasi, Dec 20, GNA – The executive of the Kumasi-Takoradi-Ellubo branch of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union has commended its members for not recording any fatal accidents on the roads this year. The branch has therefore called on the drivers to maintain that record in the ensuing year.

Nana Sumaila Boachie, the branch chairman, made the commendation at the general meeting of the union in Kumasi on Sunday. He called on the drivers to observe road regulations especially during the Christmas festivities to ensure accident-free celebration. Nana Boachie warned against unruly behaviour towards passengers and driving under the influence of alcohol.

He re-echoed his call on the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) to ensure that all potholes on the country’s highways are filled to ensure safe driving.

The secretary of the union, Mr Kwaku Adusei, cautioned the drivers against overloading during the Christmas period and to give respect the police.
