Tema, May 02, GNA — A taxi driver whose carelessness caused multiple accidents that damaged three cars has been fined 600,000 cedis by the Tema circuit court “A”.

Essiamah Gascona Emmanuel Evans pleaded guilty to careless driving and will go to jail for three months if he fails to pay the fine. Chief Inspector Mary Assunta, prosecuting, told the court, presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu that on December 5, 2003 at about 11 am, the driver of a Toyota Corolla taxi cab with registration number GT 114 G, on reaching Community Two and Five junction failed to observe traffic regulations.

He suddenly joined the major road and crossed an Audi Saloon car, and in the process collided with the car. The impact of the accident dragged the taxi to hit another private car, coming from another direction. Inspector Assunta said this resulted to the damage of three vehicles; however, no one was injured in the accident.
