Driver to spend 15 years in jail for defilement

Tema, Jan 05, GNA — The Tema Circuit Court ‘B’ on Wednesday sentenced a 20-year old driver to 15 years imprisonment in hard labour for defiling a 13-year-old girl.

The accused, Kabutey Ocansey, pleaded guilty and was convicted on his own plea.

Chief Inspector Edith Nutakor told the court that the victim met Ocansey when she was on her way to visit her mother on December 30 last year.

Ocansey lured her to a plantain farm and forcibly had sex with her. The victim later narrated her ordeal to one of her aunties who made a complaint to the Police and Ocansey was arrested. The accused admitted having sex with the victim but claimed she had been his girl friend and that it was unfortunate that on that day he could not get a proper place for their lovemaking.
