Driver tears cedi currency into pieces.

Lagos-town (W/R) Oct.14, -GNA- The driver of an Opel caravan taxi, with registration number WR 2117 X on Saturday torn into pieces a 20,000-cedi note during an argument with a passenger. After tearing and throwing away the pieces in a fit of anger, onlookers moved to confront him but realising the danger he sped off. Mr. Samuel Kwesi Anderson, Assembly member for the area who was among the crowd took the pieces to the Kwesimintsim Police station where he lodged a complaint.

He described the attitude of the driver whose name was not immediately known as “indiscipline and gross disrespect for authority”. Mr. Anderson, accompanied by some members of the area’s Unit Committee said he would pursue the case to its logical conclusion. It all happened when Mr. Francis Ansah the passenger paid 20,000 cedis as fare from Kweikuma to Lagos-town, but the driver refused to take it and demanded 25,000 cedis.

This resulted in hot exchange between them and when he took the money he tore it into pieces and threw them into the gutter. Meanwhile, the police are searching for the driver.
