Driver remanded over killing of Pedestrian

A driver who knocked down a 45-year old man with his Toyota Urvan Bus and failed to attend to him has been remanded into Police custody by the Abeka District Court.

The victim, an unknown male adult, was admitted to hospital but passed away.

Richard Amo has been charged with careless and inconsiderate driving, negligently causing harm, failing to report accident and failing to attend to the injured.

Amo is additionally been charged for failing to produce his driver’s license, He however pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Police say after the incident on January 6, this year, they could not trace Amo, charged his car owner before the court.

After three months the owner of the vehicle, Alex Nana Tenkorang produced Amo in court.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector H.A. Hanson said on January 6, this year Amo was in charge of bus with registration number GT 2543-09 from Lapaz to Kwame Nkrumah Circle at about 7:00pm, when he knocked down an unknown male adult in front of Adehyeman Bank at Avenor.

According to the prosecutor the accused person left the victim to his fate and absconded from the accident scene. The victim was escorted to the hospital but whiles on admission the victim died.

However, the vehicle owner was traced and told to produce the accused.
