Driver Punished For Crossing Presidential Convoy

An Accra Circuit Court today fined an Accra-based driver, Mr. Daniel Osei who failed to give way to the Presidential convoy along the liberation road towards the Tetteh Quarshie interchange in Accra on 11th of this month.The court fined Daniel Osei who pleaded guilty to the offence with an amount of One million cedis. In fault of the fine, the accused person would be made to serve five months in prison and in hard labour. According to our court correspondent, Bernard Quanson the accused person showed remorse to his action and told the court he was very sorry. Police Chief Inspector, Peter Benneh who presented the facts in court said Daniel Osei was driving a Mazda pick-up with registration No. GV2784 when the incident occurred.

Chief Inspector Benneh said the accused person failed to stop and crossed the presidential convoy in spite of the siren and nearly crashed with one of the leading vehicles. He was later arrested by Sergeant Randy Bonsu of the VVIP Unit of Castle and handed him over to the police MTU. He was processed to that effect and arraigned before the court.
