Driver jailed seven years for impregnating a minor

Paul Sackey, a 32-year-old driver who took advantage of the cordial relationship he had with his vehicle owner and impregnated her 14-year-old daughter was on Thursday sentenced to seven years imprisonment by an Accra Circuit Court.

Sackey, who pleaded guilty to defilement, was convicted on his own plea.

Police Chief Inspector I.A.A. Ahor, prosecuting, said the complainant who is the mother of the victim lives with the accused who is their driver at Odorkor Nyamekye in Accra

He said sometime in November 2011, the accused gave the victim some concoction to drink to make her brilliant but after taking the concoction, she became aroused and accused took advantage of her and defiled her.

The prosecutor said the accused continued to defile the victim until the complainant found out that the victim was bleeding.

Chief Inspector Ahor said the complainant lodged a report at the Police station and the accused was arrested, the victim was issued with a Police medical form for examination but a report from the hospital revealed that the victim was five months pregnant.
