Driver jailed for defilement

Accra, May 15, GNA – A Circuit Court in Accra on Monday sentenced a 50-year-old driver to 10 years’ imprisonment with hard labour for defiling a 13-year-old pupil. Edward Darko pleaded guilty to defilement and the court convicted him accordingly.

Chief Inspector Lawrence Gbele told the court that Darko lived in the same area with the victim. On May 7, this year at about 1000 hours, Darko took advantage of the complainant’s absence and had sex with the victim. Darko warned the victim not to disclose it to anyone but the victim defied it and told the complainant of her ordeal. The complainant reported the matter to the police at Madina and Darko was arrested.
