Driver in prison custody for snatching bag containing GH?30,000

Fiapre (B/A), Sept. 17, GNA – A circuit court at Fiapre near Sunyani has remanded a 25 year-old driver into prison custody for stealing more than GH¢30,000 at Yawhima, in Sunyani West District of Brong Ahafo Region. Prince Kofi Yeboah pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing and was convicted on his own plea but the court deferred his sentence till his next appearance on September 23.

Police Superintendent Fredrick K. Agyei told the court presided by Mr Benjamin Osei that the complainant is a sales representative of Dark and Lovely products whilst Yeboah is his personal driver.

He said on September 1, the complainant travelled with Yeboah to distribute some of the products in Techiman.

On their return journey to Sunyani, Yeboah reported to the sales representative that the vehicle had developed a fault and stopped at a place near Yawhima.

Superintendent Agyei said when the sales representative alighted to check the fault Yeboah snatched the hand bag containing GH¢30,872.49, invoices, calculator and ATM card and dashed into the bush.

The complainant reported the matter to the police and on September 6, he spotted Yeboah in Sunyani and alerted the police who arrested him. The prosecutor said Yeboah admitted the offence during interrogation.
