Driver fined one million cedis for careless driving

Tema, April 27, GNA- A driver who drove carelessly and caused injuries to seven passengers, has been fined one million cedis by the Tema circuit court “B”.

Fredrick Adu Gyamfi pleaded guilty. He will in default go to jail for 12 months.

Chief Inspector Alice Gyamfi, that on July 18, 2003, at about 0830 hours, accused was driving a Mitsubishi bus from community one through community eight to Ashaiman with passengers on board.

She said on reaching a section of the road at community eight, he failed to stop to observe traffic and run into another vehicle, and seven passengers on the bus sustained injuries.

They were rushed to Tema Hospital for treatment. Police investigations showed that there was no insurance policy covering the bus, the prosecution said.
