Driver fined GH¢240.00 for reckless driving

Kumasi, Aug. 11, GNA – A 33-year old driver, has been ordered by a Kumasi Circuit Court, to pay a fine of GH¢240.00, for knocking down a 54-year old man with his vehicle.

Adomako Mensah would in default serve a six-month prison term.

He pleaded guilty to charges of reckless driving and causing harm.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Doris Amewu told the court, presided over by Mr Justice D.W.P. Amedior, that the convict hit Philip Owusu-Ansah, the victim, with his Hyundai Grace mini-bus at Breman on the Kumasi-Offinso road on May 18, at about 1700 hours.

He was overtaking another vehicle ahead of him, when the accident happened.

The victim suffered a dislocation of the right rib, cuts on the head and spine injury and was kept on admission at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for two weeks.
