Driver fined for injuring an 80 -year- old man

Tema, Jan. 1, GNA – The Tema Circuit Court ‘B’, has imposed a fine of four million cedis, on a driver who knocked down an 80-year-old man at Ashaiman main lorry station in the Tema Municipality. Alhassan Iddrisu, who was sentenced on his own plea, would be jailed for two years in default.

Police Inspector Teye Matey, told the Court presided over by Mr Stephen Teye, that at about 1730 hours on August 5, 2004, the accused who was driving a bus, reversed into the pedestrian walk way and knocked down the man.

The victim was rushed to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital with serious injuries.
