Driver fined 5 million cedis for negligent driving

Wa (Upper West Region) – A driver of the Ministry of Health was on Monday sentenced to a fine of five million cedis by the Wa circuit court for knocking down and killing a 43-year-old woman.

The accused Milku Danlara who pleaded guilty to reckless driving and negligently causing harm will in default of the fine go to prison for two years with hard labour.

The court had heard that on December 24 last year, the accused who was driving a Nissan pick-up knocked down Madam Catherine Bayor who died at the Wa Regional Hospital soon after being admitted.
