Driver fined 400,000 cedis for traffic offences

Cape Coast, Nov 12, GNA- A 37-year-old driver, James Acquah, from Elmina was on Wednesday fined 400,000 cedis by a Cape Coast circuit court for various traffic offences.

Acquah, who pleaded guilty to three counts of parking at an unauthorised place, resisting arrest and failing to produce driving license, would go to prison for six months if he fails to pay the fine. Police Inspector Samuel Addae told the court that on October 11, the police intercepted Acquah’s vehicle that was parked at the Mankessim roundabout picking passengers.

He said Acquah’s offence was pointed out to him and he was asked to drive to the police station but he rather drove away. He was chased and arrested.
