Driver fine 360,000.00 for traffic offences

Twifo Praso (C/R), Dec. 21 GNA- The Twifo Praso district magistrate court on Tuesday sentenced Kwame Okraku to a fine of 360,000.00 cedis for various motor traffic offences. Okraku, who pleaded guilty to failing to stop, driving without a license, using a commercial vehicle without road worthy certificate and without insurance would go to prison for three months in default.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector George Okine, told the court that on December 12, 2006 police who were on patrol around the official town junction near Praso signaled Okraku to stop but he failed to do so. He said Okraku was chased and arrested and during investigations, it was detected that the vehicle had no road worthy certificate and insurance covering it. He said further investigations revealed that Okraku had no driving license too.
