Driver convicted for dangerous driving

Twifo Praso(C/R), April 20, GNA – Isaac Tenkorang, a 23-year-old driver from Denkyira Mfuom in the Central Region was on Tuesday fined 1.5 million cedis for dangerous driving and causing road obstruction by a Magistrate’s court at Twifo-Praso. Tenkorang pleaded guilty to both charges and would serve 12 months imprisonment in default.

The court presided over by Mr Joseph Blay also bonded Tenkorang to be of good behaviour for six months or in default serve three months imprisonment.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Okine told the court that Tenkorang drove dangerously on April 6 this year, when he suddenly made a ‘U’ turn at Twifo-Eduabeng on the Twifo-Praso-Cape Coast road, a major road.

He said during the turning, Tenkorang nearly crashed into a vehicle being driven by Mr Isaac Edumadze, Central Regional Minister who was returning from Twifo-Praso.

Police Chief Inspector Okine said Tenkorang managed to run away with his vehicle and went into hiding at Twifo Oil Palm Plantation, but was arrested on a tip-off five days later and after investigations charged with the offences. 20 April 06
