Driver charged with stealing lover’s wax prints

Sekondi Feb. 14, GNA – Dominic Mensah, a 31-year-old driver at Kansaworodo near Takoradi, was on Monday arraigned before a District Magistrate’s Court at Sekondi for allegedly stealing 60 half pieces of wax print valued at 12 million cedis from his 70-year-old lover. In the dock with him was Seidu Hausah, who was charged with dishonestly receiving the stolen wax prints.

Mensah, also known as Gyentia and Hausah, both pleaded not guilty. They were remanded to re-appear on February 21.

Prosecuting, Police Sergeant Andam Okyere said Mensah and Komfo Adoba, a trader at Nkontompo were lovers for six months and during that time, the accused often spent the night at her residence. He said each time the accused paid Adoba a visit, he took away four half pieces of wax prints.

Sergeant Okyere said on December 1 last year, Adoba detected that 60 half pieces of wax prints were missing and suspected the accused. She made a report to the Police who arrested the accused, he said. Sergeant Okyere said in his statement to the Police, the accused admitted the offence and mentioned Hausah as the one he gave the stolen wax prints to.

He said after investigations, the two were charged with the offences.
