Driver causes harm to 65 year old woman.

Tema, July 5, GNA — A 28 year old driver who drove carelessly to cause harm to a 65 year old woman at Ashaiman has been granted 30 million cedis bail by the Tema circuit court ‘A’.

Michael Donkor pleaded not guilty to two counts charges of careless driving and causing harm. He will re-appear on July 15, 2004.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Mary Assunta told the court, presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu that on November 28, 2002, at about 5 pm, accused was driving Hyundai Grace with registration number GT 35 91 R from Tema to Ashaiman.

She said on reaching a spot near Community 11 Shell filling station, accused drove without due care and disregard to other road users and knocked down Ama Otiwa Kate aged 65 years, who had crossed the road to the near side.

Chief Inspector Assunta said the old woman who went into comma, was rushed to the Tema General Hospital for treatment, but died soon after admission.

A report was made to the police and after investigations, the driver was charged.
