Driver arrested for stealing livestock

Kasoa (C/R) April 5 GNA- The Police on Monday arrested one Stephen Quansah a driver and impounded his car, which was being used to transport five stolen sheep and four goats at Kasoa. His accomplice identified as George Sackey however managed to escape.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Charles Adalong, Kasoa District Police Commander, who made this known to the Ghana News Agency, in an interview on Tuesday said two of the animals died from suffocation.

He said two suspects who were armed with a pistol stole the animals at Winneba.

He said the Police, which acted upon a tip-off arrested Quansah after a fierce chase when he refused to stop at the Winneba and Gomoa Bujumbura police barriers.

ASP Adalong said the car was eventually involved in an accident but neither Sackey nor Quansah were injured. He said Quansah would appear in court on Thursday, April 7, while efforts were being made to arrest Sackey.
