Driver arrested for defiling girl, 13

Armo-Kwaw, a 47-year-old driver at Half Assini, has been arrested by the police for allegedly defiling a 13-year old primary six girl of Half Assini Christian Academy.

The Jomoro District Police Commander, Superintendent John Ferguson Dzineku, made this known to the Ghana News Agency at Half Assini on Thursday.

He said the suspect and victim were neighbours at Amenzuley, a suburb of Half Assini.

He said at about 1930 hours on March 2, 2015, during a black-out in the town, the suspect sent the girl to buy him water.

Superintendent Dzineku said when the girl brought the water, Kwaw took advantage of the black-out and lured the girl to a nearby uncompleted building and defiled her.

The Police Commander said the girl bled profusely from her private part as a result of the act.

He said when the victim returned home she reported her ordeal to her father who later reported the matter to the police and Armo Kwaw was arrested.

Superintendent Dzineku said the girl was admitted to the Half Assini Government Hospital for three days due to injuries she sustained in her private part during the defilement.

According to the Police Commander a medical form given to the victim had not been returned to the police as at the time of filing this report.

He said the suspect would be processed before court after police investigations.
