Dr Apraku visits Paga Border

Accra, Oct. 14, GNA – The Minister for Regional Cooperation and NEPAD Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku on Tuesday made a stopover at the Paga Border Post in the Upper East Region on his way to the Burkina Faso. He interacted with the Customs Officers and urged them to work harder to increase Government revenue.

This was contained in a release signed by Mr Ahmed Osumanu Halid, Public Relations Officer at the Ministry for Regional Cooperation and NEPAD.

The Minister said the government would assist them to make their work very effective.

The Chief Collector of Customs, Excise and preventive Service (CEPS) in charge of Paga Border, Mr Eric Totomeh appealed to the Minister to convince the Police to reduce the number of checkpoints since they tended to slow down the movement of goods and services. He said smuggling had been brought under control in the area and asked that their communication systems should be improved to ensure their efficiency.
