Dr Anane stings Sir John over Akufo-Addo

A former Minister of Health in the John Agyekum Kufuor government, Dr. Richard Anane says the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie should resign his post, if he wants to do the bidding of any presidential hopeful.

Dr. Anane said the pitching of camp by Mr. Owusu Afriyie, known in political circles as Sir John, goes contrary to the ethos of his duties as the General Secretary of the party.

The former minister who says he is under pressure to lead the NPP in the 2016 elections, said on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem on Tuesday that, Sir John by his position as General Secretary, is barred from openly declaring support for anyone hoping to contest the flagbearership position of the party.

The Member of Parliament for Nhyiaso Constituency in the Ashanti Region said Sir John, by endorsing the candidature of Nana Akufo-Addo, as the presidential candidate of the NPP for the 2016 elections had demonstrated that he could not be a neutral arbiter.

He, therefore, called on Mr. Owusu Afriyie to desist from taking a position on the matter of who lead the party in the 2016 elections.
