Dr Amoako Baah explains why he is contesting as National Chairman of NPP

Political Scientist, Dr Richard Amoako Baah has blamed bad leadership on the part of the current crop of executives as part of decisions to run for the National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

His confirmation puts to rest speculations that the hitherto political analyst and Senior lecturer of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) was eyeing the position and making moves sometime last week.

On Kumasi-based Ultimate FM, he observed that the leadership of the party prior to the 2016 elections left some parliamentary candidates to their fate without adequate resources for them to campaign citing instances he personally had to intervene in order to ameliorate the plight of one in the Central region.

He also blamed the Freddie Blay led leadership for the lawlessness that has engulfed the party involving vigilante groups indicating that under his watch such acts will not be entertained.

“The way and manner things are going, I never saw we will be doing such a thing in government”, blaming the acting chairman of the party, Mr. Freddy Blay for several incidents such as Delta Force protesting against President Akufo-Addo’s nominees as well as other unfortunate incidents recorded across the country.

“When I heard Delta Force and all this rancor what came to my mind is where is the chairman? You don’t expect President to manage this. The President focus is on the government especially it was an appointment time and you are expecting him to look at the party too, he cannot. …where was the chairman then”, Dr. Richard Amoako queried on Kumasi-based Ultimate FM’s morning show.
