Dozens displaced in Tamale floods

Dozens of residents in Tamale have been displaced after a continuous downpour in the area on Wednesday evening.

One of the victims, who spoke to Lantam Papanko on the Ultimate Breakfast Show, blamed the situation on abandoned drains of road construction in the area indicating that all attempts to get the contractor finish the job has proven futile.

According to him, the most affected area is Vittin Village where more than 20 houses have been affected with properties estimated at several thousands of cedis destroyed.

Sawaba, Belpela, Gumani, Datoyili, Kalariga, Sagnarigu, Jisonayili and Kulnyevila have also been gravely affected by the floods according to checks by ultimatefmonline.com.

Officials of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), as at press time were yet to communicate official figures of displaced persons.

Flooding within the Tamale Metropolis is a perennial situation especially when there is a spillage of excess water from the Bagri dam in neighbouring Burkina Faso
