Doryumu Chief appeals for infrastructural development

Nene Adjartey Konor II, Chief of Doryumu, has appealed to the government to provide the community with social amenities to improve the living standards of the people in the area.

He said the provision of amenities such as school, hospital, market, as well as fencing the Shai Hills Reserve, will not only improve living conditions but also promote tourism and market the Shai State to the outside world.

Nene Adjartey made the appeal in an interview with Ghana News Agency at Doryumu, near Dodowa, in the Shai-Osudoku District of the Greater Accra Region on Saturday.

He said though the Shai State provides enough resources towards national development, the area is not developed.

“Sand, stones and other materials are being collected to Kumasi for the Airport project, and other projects elsewhere in the country but the providers are not being attended to,” he said.

Nene Konor also called for the rehabilitation of the Duryumu-Agomeda, Doryumu-Ayikuma, Afienya-Dahwenya and the Larteh-Ada road, which passes through the Game Reserve, to provide easy access to tourists.

He also urged the government to return the Shai State lands, which was confiscated, to enable them to develop it, since it was lying idle. He called for the completion of a six-classroom block which had been abandoned for some years now.

He asked the Shai Osudoku District Assembly to step up its education on indiscipline, which he said, was getting out of hand in the district.
