Dormaa-Ahenkro, Jan 8, GNA – The Dormaa District Assembly collected 634 million cedis out of a targeted revenue of 955 million cedis from January to November last year from traditional sources, representing 66.1 per cent.
Mr. Emmanuel Duku, Dormaa District Chief Executive, who said this at the third ordinary session of the Assembly at Dormaa-Ahenkro, expressed concern about the low revenue base of the assembly. He appealed to town and area council and assembly members to assist revenue collectors in the collection of revenue.
Mr Duku said the assembly had undertaking some projects, including six classroom pavilions each at Wamfie Kofiasua and Kofi Nti Shed, office for the District Mutual Health Insurance at Dormaa-Ahenkro and the rehabilitation of street lights at Dormaa-Ahenkro.
Mr Duku expressed dissatisfaction with the non-functional nature of the town and area councils and attributed it to factors such as lack of interest of the members.
He called on the members to work harder to ensure the growth and development of the district.
Mr Kwaku Agyeman Manu, a Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, attributed the low revenue base of the assembly to lack of proper and effective database.
He urged the Assembly to find an effective and proper database to help improve revenue collection of the Assembly.
