Dormaa launches Environment Week

Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A), Aug 27, GNA- Mr Emmanuel Duku, Dormaa District Chief Executive, has launched the District’s Sanitation Week at Dormaa-Ahenkro, with an appeal to the people to ensure proper hygiene and good environmental sanitation in their communities.

He expressed concern about poor sanitation and absence of cleanliness in homes and communities, resulting in the outbreak of epidemics and other diseases leading to loss of lives.

The DCE said the celebration of the week is to create awareness among the people to ensure proper sanitation and environmental cleanliness.

Mr Duku urged iced-water sellers to ensure that the streets are not littered with polythene bags and other waste materials and told people whose plots of land are overgrown with weeds to clear them to avoid breeding of mosquitoes.

”The assembly’s byelaws on sanitation are still in force and anyone who abuses them will be made to face the full rigorous of the law.”

He reminded the people, heads of departments and other workers to take active part in the celebration of the week.
