The Dormaa Presbyterian Hospital in Brong-Ahafo Region has made an appeal for urgent medical supplies to fight neonatal mortality.
Dr. Adoma Forkuo, the Administrator, said its lack of infusion pumps, ventilators, monitors and pediatric ambulance was making efforts at preventing neonates from dying, struggle.
She was speaking during a brief ceremony held to receive four incubators, costing about GH?50,000, donated to the facility by the Access Bank.
She expressed concern about the increasing rate of preterm births and said that made it important to adequately equip the pediatric unit to save the lives of preemies.
Dr. Forkuo, who also Heads the Pediatric Unit, applauded the management of the bank for the gesture and said it was a welcomed relief.
She invited philanthropists, non-governmental organizations and corporate bodies to support the noble cause of bringing quality healthcare to the people.
Mr. Kameel Adebayo, the Executive Director of Operations and Information Technology of the Bank, said the incubators were procured through cash contributions made by the staff.
He said it has established an Employee Volunteering Programme (EVP), under which the bank’s workers voluntarily contribute money towards healthcare promotion.
