Dormaa-East attains 94% of 2010 IGF target

Wamfie (B/A), Nov. 5, GNA – Dormaa-East District Assembly in Brong-Ahafo has internally generated GH¢98,411.00 revenue between January and September this year, representing 94 percent of its 2010 target.

Mr Isaac Kofi Kyeremeh, District Chief Executive, who announced this at the Assembly’s final general meeting at Wamfie, said the Assembly was poised to meet its Internal Generated Fund target before the year ends. The Assembly’s final general meeting for the year which announced its dissolution was also used to discuss and approve revenue and expenditure estimates for the ensuing year. New rates were approved for ratable items and services while the expected expenditure for 2010 was adjusted to suit the income levels of the burgeoning District Assembly.

Mr Kyeremeh commended the out-going Assembly Members for their consensus and cooperation during his two-year stay with them. He announced that the Assembly had completed and commissioned several development projects for some needy communities. In addition he said it had cut a sod to commence the building of staff accommodation for the Assembly.

The DCE also announced that the Dormaa-East Secretariat of the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) had recruited and trained 192 youth as teaching assistants and health extension workers while 72 others would be trained as dressmakers and hairdressers. Mr Kyeremeh lauded the Zoomlion Company for its exceptional performance in keeping the environment clean especially in major towns of the new district and appealed to the people to give the company the necessary cooperation to enable it to improve its performance. He said one of the first businesses for the next Assembly would be the debate of a proposed education endowment fund to cater for brilliant but needy pupils and students in the district. 5 Nov. 10
