The Dormaa Traditional Council has re-affirmed its commitment to ensure peace in its area of jurisdiction during the coming elections.
The Council has thus issued a warning to individuals and groups in Dormaa who may have any desire to foment trouble to desist from such intentions.
Barima Dei Kusi Gyabaa II, the Ankobeahene for the Dormaa Traditional Council pronounced the warning when he chaired the inaugural durbar of chiefs and people of the newly-established Dormaa-West District Assembly at Nkrankwanta the district capital.
He said the Council has put in place a monitoring mechanism aimed at tracking down and dealing drastically with any persons who might want to take the law into their own hands to disturb the peace of the area.
Barima Gyabaa deplored the spate of vulgar language on the airwaves and appealed to the youth not to allow themselves to be exploited by partisan politicians for their selfish interest.
“We have come to welcome our new District as one people, let us extend the same to our political campaign by seeing ourselves as one people whose aim is to achieve speedy economic growth and improved standard of living”, the traditional leader exhorted his people.
The traditional leader urged them to lead exemplary lives and show their followers the necessary steps to adopt so as avoid coming into conflict with their political adversaries.
Meanwhile, the Gyaasehene of the Dormaa Traditional Council, Barima Oppong Yaw Boabasa II, has also added his voice to calls on the youth in Dormaa to cherish peace and live in harmony with one another during the election year.
Speaking to the GNA at Dormaa-Ahenkro, the Gyaasehene appealed to owners and staff of radio stations in and around Dormaa to exhibit maturity and decorum in choosing their resource persons and guard against heightening tensions and conflict.**
