Dormaa Assembly seeking to increase revenue

Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A), Jan. 14, GNA – Vincent Oppong Asamoah, Dormaa Municipal Chief Executive, expressed worry that the low revenue generated by the assembly was affecting the implementation of development projects in the area. He said that the assembly collected only 50 per of its internally-generated revenue target for 2009. Mr Asamoah said the assembly has been meeting with stakeholders including heads of departments, traditional authorities, revenue collectors and supervisors and the media at Dormaa-Ahenkro, to discuss how the assembly could meet its revenue target for this year. He appealed to the stakeholders to step up public education on the need for people to pay their taxes promptly and regularly. Mr Asamoah called on the stakeholders to assist in revamping the assembly’s financial base to attract appreciable share of the District Assembly’s Common Fund. 14 Jan 10
