Don’t wait for Special Prosecutor to try corrupt NDC officials – Ken Agyapong

Financier of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong is urging the current government to go ahead and initiate the processes towards prosecuting corrupt officials under the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration ahead of the establishment of the office of the Independent Special Prosecutors.

According to him, there is a tall list of corrupt officials of the past administration who have the effrontery to still be laud when documents of their alleged involvement in shady deals are gathering dust at the Attorney General’s Department awaiting action by the yet to be established Special Prosecutor.

“We can start prosecuting these people before the office of the Special Prosecutor is established. Our delay is making them find their voices and coming after us”, he disclosed on Adom TV on Tuesday.

The NPP firebrand also accused some staff at the AG’s department who are sympathetic towards of the previous administration of sabotaging the system in order to ensure that those cited for corrupt deals are left off the hook.

“I said soon after we came into power that that if we don’t start prosecuting these people for corrupt practices it would become a major challenge for us but they failed to heed to my advice and were singing that they are waiting for Special Prosecutor. Today Mahama has found his voice and describing an app as a 419 scam. We have been kept quiet and allowed them to undermine the system”, he stressed

“I think the prosecution of these corrupt NDC officials is taking far too long because the A-G’s office is full of NDC members. A part from the A-G and her deputy, the rest are all NDC members and that is why there is no progress in the prosecution and I’m worried” he noted while speaking on Adom FM’s Morning Show.
