Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams says it is wrong for preachers to use the pulpit to attack national leaders.
According to him, the practice is unhealthy and not backed by the Bible.
“One of my policies is not to criticise people in authority. Because I have learned that the bible says speak no evil about the ruler of my people. And the bible also calls our attention to the fact that you don’t dishonor and disrespect kings and those in authority,” the Action Chapel International founder told Bola Ray in an interview.
He added: “One thing we must understand is that Ghana is not a Christian country. This is not the time where prophets appoint a king by the will of God; we are a circular country even though we have a lot of Christians than other religions. So we have to be very careful of the situation where prophets get us and attack presidents and kings; you can’t do that, this is a different dispensation.
“So my attitude is that based on that understanding is that if I have an issue with those in authority I don’t use the pulpit to insult or attack because the pulpit is to preach the word of God, I will seek audience and I have done that we all of the presidents.”
