Don’t politicize Supreme Court verdict – Minister

Mr Samuel Sarpong, the Central Regional Minister, has appealed to Ghanaians not to politicise the verdict the Supreme Court would announce in the 2012 election petition to promote peace and stability.

He said this when he addressed a durbar of chiefs and people of Agona Nyakrom to climax their Akwambo Festival.

Mr Sarpong said people should avoid anything that could trigger violence after the verdict, to move the country forward and added that, the country’s stability should be maintained.

Mr Sarpong called on the people to do away with negative tendencies, especially chieftaincy and land disputes because they could undermine development.

He appealed to the traditional leaders to cooperate with Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies, non- governmental organizations and other corporate bodies, to accelerate growth.

Mr Charles Obeng-Inkoom, MP for Agona West, expressed concern about the parental neglect in the area which is hampering education of children.

Okofo Katakyi Nyarko Eku X, Omanhene of Nyakrom Traditional Area, called on the government to rehabilitate the Nyakrom/Breman Asikuma, Nyakrom / Agona Kwamang and Nyakrom/ Agona Swedru roads.

He appealed to the government to complete academic facilities at Nyakrom Senior High School (SHS) to enhance teaching and learning.
