Don’t inject political motives into every issue- Debrah

Tamale, March 2, GNA- Mr Ernest Debrah, Northern Regional Minister has appealed to citizens of Dagbon not to link every issue affecting them to politics.

He told them to stop pointing accusing fingers at their opponents and consult among themselves to find out the root cause of their problems. Mr Debrah was addressing a forum organised by the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) for chiefs, political, religious, and opinion leaders, as well as the youth in Tamale on Monday.

The forum was to offer the opportunity for the people to suggest ideas on how to maintain peace in Dagbon, particularly during this election year.

The Gulkpe-Na, Ahaji Ziblim Abdulai, (Chief of Tamale), suggested that the various political parties should carry out their campaign messages through the medium of the local F.M. stations, instead of mounting political platforms to insult their political opponents.

He advised politicians to limit their campaign messages to their manifestos and not attack personalities and also appealed to the security services to be non-partisan in the discharge of their duties during the December general election.

Alhaji Issah Mumuni, an Imam in Tamale suggested that to avoid violence, political parties should not be allowed to hold rallies at the same time and venue in any locality

He said a committee of peace should also be put in place to go to the mosques, churches and market places to preach peace to the people.
