Don’t impose Akufo-Addo on us – NPP

Spokesperson of the Greater Accra Regional Branch of the NPP, Michael Ampong, has said the attempt by some national executive members of the party to impose Nana Akufo-Addo on the party for the 2016 elections is a ploy to hide their own weaknesses.

He said it is befuddling to accept why some leading members of the party will root for Nana Addo when he just took a break from politics.

The General Secretary of the party, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, and some leading members have already declared support for the candidature of Nana Addo in the 2016 elections.

But speaking to XYZ News, Michael Ampong said such attempts by the national executive is detrimental to the future of the party

“Let nobody try to deepen the factions in our party. The antics of trying to promote factionalism to secure positions in the party are over. We are wide awake and no one can fool anybody,” he declared.

He opined that the party needed to make room for others to vie for positions purely on merit.
