Don’t force Akufo-Addo to quit politics – Gabby

The Executive Director of the Danquah Institute, Gabby Asare Otchere Darko says people should give Nana Akufo-Addo a breathing space to reflect on all that has happened with regards to the election petition case.

The 2012 presidential candidate of the NPP on Thursday said he will take some time out of politics and later announce his future decisions.

Pollster Ben Ephson, however, said Nana Akufo-Addo must quit active politics and shun his dream of becoming president, but rather use his influence to forge the party formidably ahead of the 2016 general elections.

Gabby Asare Otchere Darko in an interview with XYZ News said Nana Akufo-Addo deserves a rest to decide on his next line of action which, according to Gabby, may not necessarily be about the flagbearership of the party.

“Nana [was] born [a] politician; he was four-years-old when the riots happened in (1948); he was born into politics, so if he says he is going to take a break and come back, it doesn’t necessarily mean he is coming to fight for the flagbearership,” Otchere Darko noted.

According to him, “whatever decision is his personal decision and it is entirely up to him, but that decision will be based on certain things…so let’s leave him to rest and whatever decision he takes some of us are there for him”.
