Don’t drink Sere Aqua Filtered Drinking Water

Sunyani (B/A), Nov. 18, GNA – The Management of the Food and Drugs Board (FDB) have advised the consuming public, especially residents of Ashanti and Brong-Ahafo regions to desist from patronizing and consuming Sere Aqua Filtered Drinking Water packaged in 0.5 litre and 1.5 litre bottles being produced and marketed by Jojem Pharmaceuticals Limited because the product had not been approved by the Board.

A press release from the Ashanti and Brong Ahafo administrative branch of the Board from Kumasi signed by Mr Joseph Bennie, zonal officer on behalf of the Chief Executive indicated that, though the product and the processes of manufacturer had not been approved by the Board as required by the Food and Drugs Law, 1992, PNDCL 305B, “the company has embossed an FDB registration number on the package”. The statement explained that, during a post-market surveillance activity in Atebubu in the Brong-Ahafo Region, ” a quantity of the product was observed to have some greenish microbial growth in them”. The Board also stated that, Ken’s Farm Fresh Orange Juice produced by Ken’s Farm Fresh Enterprise in Kumasi “is not registered by the Board and consequently the quality and safety of the product cannot be guaranteed”.

All sachet water producers, who are illegally producing bottled water are hereby warned to desist from such activity or have themselves to blame, the statement further cautioned.

It assured the general public that it was taking the necessary steps within its statutory mandate to ensure public safety in terms of drinking good filtered drinking water and fresh orange juice.
