Don’t downplay the District Level elections – Kufuor

Accra, Sept. 26, GNA – President John Agyekum Kufuor on Tuesday morning joined voters from across the country to vote in the District Assembly elections and called on the people not to downplay the poll. The election, he said, was an important part of the nation’s democratisation process and for that matter should to be taken seriously.

President Kufuor therefore appealed to all registered voters to show up in their numbers at the polling centres to exercise their franchise.

Asked about his impression on the low voter turn out during the early hours of voting, he said that had often been the trend in Ghana’s elections and expressed the hope that it could pick up in the afternoon.
