Don’t create safe haven for criminals-Chief

Kumasi, Nov. 20, GNA – Nana Adu Broni, Gyaasehene of Ayigya, a suburb of Kumasi, has cautioned the citizenry to resolve and be bold in exposing suspected criminals who live in their neighbourhoods. “You should not shelve or sympathize with suspected criminals, but collaborate with the police to flush them out”, he stressed. Nana Broni gave the caution at the inauguration of the Islamic Center for Youth Development (ICYD), a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), in Kumasi on Saturday.

He said exposure of criminals was the only way or means by which anti-social activities could be reduced in the country. “Taking bold initiatives to also disclose their hideouts would equally go a long way to deprive them of any safe haven from where to operate”, he added.

Nana Broni urged the youth to always strive to gear their energies towards profitable ventures instead of engaging themselves in acts that had the tendency of jeopardizing their future.

Speaking on the topic, “The Muslim and education, how and why necessary”, Sheikh Ismail Saeed Adam, Director of the Sakafia Educational Complex, called on Muslims to discard the notion that pursuance of secular education was a sin.

He said if Muslims did not endeavour to change the trend, “We will continue to wallow down the social ladder,” adding, “parents should also invest in the education of their girl-child”.

Mr. Yahaya Safianu Adam, President of the Center, gave the assurance that the NGO would be fully committed to raising the standards of living of the youth through educational programmes, now that it has been inaugurated.
