Don’t advocate ethnicity to solve problems-Daasebre

Koforidua, Aug 16, GNA – Daasebre Dr Oti Boateng, the Omanhene of the New Juaben Traditional Area, has denounced the resort to promoting ethnicity instead of a united front.

“It will be suicidal to seek to develop when we are divided as a nation. What is required is to think of ways of alleviating poverty facing the masses.”

Daasebre Oti Boateng was speaking at the installation of a surgeon, Dr Felix Otchere Darko, 65, as the Ayokuohene of the New Juaben Traditional Area under the stool name Barimah Otchere Boateng at Koforidua on Monday.

Daasebre Oti Boateng said chieftaincy should be seen as one of the democratic avenues for choosing people to rule and nothing should be done to undermine it.

He told the new chief to exhibit the same zeal that made him to become a medical practitioner and to regard his new office as a challenge for him to bring unity and development to his people. Swearing the oath of allegiance to Daasebre, Barimah Otchere Boateng pledged to support him in uplifting the image of chieftaincy and not to do anything that would bring disunity among the people.
