The Dormaa Central Municipal Director of Education, Reverend Father Kingsley Dwamena Asante, has advised parents against complying with any requests from their children, who are currently participating in the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), to pay any money purportedly designated for invigilators and examiners to provide assistance and support. He emphasized that such practices do not exist in the context of examinations.
According to the Education Director, some students exploit the examination period to extort money from their parents, claiming that teachers have instructed them to collect such funds for “Ways and Means” to ensure they receive necessary support from their teachers and invigilators to pass the exams. He firmly refuted these claims, stressing that such practices are not tolerated in any educational setting, as they form the basis of examination malpractices, which the education directorate is committed to eradicating.
He therefore appealed to parents to ensure their children are adequately prepared for the exams by providing them with basic necessities such as food and other essentials, enabling them to remain on campus and fully focused on writing the examination.
He therefore advised the WASSCE candidates to maintain their focus and muster courage in the ongoing examination. He suggested that they review all the questions and initially select the ones they feel confident in answering. After addressing these, they can proceed to the remaining questions. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of avoiding fear, approaching the questions with confidence, and believing in their ability to succeed.
