Donors building kindergarten EDn Breman Essiam

Breman Essiam (C/R) Aug. 7 GNA – An unspecified number of voluntary donors in Canada, mostly Christians, are contributing various sums of money towards the construction of a 100,000-Ghana Cedi kindergarten for the people of Breman Essiam in the Central Region. The Project when completed would consist of seven classrooms; a recreational hall; an office; a store; a kitchen and a place of convenience. Two of the classrooms have reached roofing stage and construction works are going on briskly.

Mr George Bannerman, a citizen of Breman Essiam, who is currently living in Canada, initiated the Project with the support of the Reverend Father Christopher Gillespie, a Canadian Catholic Priest and a major contributor to the Project, who is on a visit. Speaking during a special non-denominational church service organised to round-off a weeklong celebration of the annual festival of the chiefs and people, Nana Efua Esiwaa, President of Bream Essiman Traditional Council, commended Rev. Fr. Gillespie for his support. She pledged to organise members of the community to provide communal labour to ensure the speedy completion of the project. A special plaque with the inscription: “To God be the Glory” in honour of Rev. Fr. Gillespie and other donors, was later unveiled to commemorate the occasion.

Earlier, Rev. Fr. Gillespie together with Rev. Father John Arhin, Catholic Priest in charge of the Breman Essiam Catholic Church, jointly officiated at a mass during which they called on Christians to always learn to lead Christ-like lives for non-Christians to copy. Rev. Fr. Gillespie presented a crucifix, a statue of Jesus Christ and other items to the Breman Essiam Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Arhin on behalf of the entire membership of the Breman Essiam Catholic Church expressed appreciation to the visiting Priest for his contribution towards the promotion of Catholicism in the area. 7 Aug. 09
