Donation to Bawjiase Orphange

Accra Nov. 24, GNA-Foundation for Health Aid Ghana a non governmental organisation with its membership made up of predominately young health professionals on Saturday organized a free medical outreach screening exercise on Hepatitis B at the Bawjiase Orphanage in the Central Region.

Briefing the Press, Dr. Ben Ayensah, the president of the foundation said the programme was the foundations maiden exercise. He stated that, “The Foundation for Health Aid Ghana seeks to create awareness on the increasing rate of HIV/AIDS and the dangers associated with the chronic Hepatitis B infection emerging among the Ghanaian populace.

“We also believe that massive education on this disease in basic schools, villages and among the general populace with accompanied screening is a sure way to help curb the spread of this disease.” The Executive Secretary of the Foundation, Mr Evans Afadze Cobbold also held that it is the desire of the Foundation to support the Health care structure in Ghana and Africa as a whole and that they have embarked on a number of projects such as building of clinics for some deprived communities.

In her response, the Mother of the Home, Ms Emma Boafo-Yeboah thanked the Foundation for its kind gesture. She appealed to corporate bodies to come to the aid of the Home, both in kind and cash, especially as the festive season is fast approaching. In addition to the free medical screening the foundation also presented food items to the Home. About 130 children at the orphanage benefited from the free medical screening.
